DR.Martin Wickremasinghe (1890-1976)

A well known short-story writer,novelist,and literary critic, whose works were extremely populer among the sinhala literati of the time.He has, indeed,made atremendous impact on the sinhala-reading public in this country.

Sir Claude Corea (1894-1976)

In 1946,he entered the diplomatic service,as ceylon's repressentative in the UK,and in 1948 was Sri Lanka's first ambassdor to the USA. He will be remembered as one of Sri Lanka's first and ablest envoys.

Sir Chittampalam A.Gardiner (1896-1960)

His pioneerig activities encompassed the creation of cinema in this country.He progressed from his teaching career,to the top of the business ladder in Sri Lanka fom where he created a world of cinema.

Professor Senarath Paranavitharana (1896-1972)

Through his reseach,and his archaeological discoverries and writings,Paravithana distinguished himself to be classed among te greatest archaeologists not only in
Sri Lanka,but perhaps in the world.

Sir John Kotelawala (1897-1977)

He became prime Minister in 1953,and,of Sri Lanka's Prime Ministers,he will be remembered best for his dynamic and forceful nature,and for the impact which he made on the international scene at the time.
